“There is a myth that says when flocks of Red Tailed Black Cockatoos dance and soar the sky, stormy weather is on its way. This is why they are commonly named, the ‘Rain Bird.’ During sunset, flocks of this species can be seen flying high, calling, ‘Karrak Karrak’ as they return from feeding areas to roost in large Salmon Gum trees, scattered throughout the Western Australian Wheatbelt. Their brightly barred tail feathers can dislodge and gently twirl, float, and fall from the sky, landing on the ground below, waiting to be found by someone who will appreciate their beauty.”
